The missing link in local history?
A place, any place, city, town, village or hamlet is nothing without its people. So the history of a place must include a history of the lives of people that have lived there.  Milton Keynes, now a “new town” fifty years old covers much of what was once North Bucks and the history of the area from pre-Roman times until the present has been extensively researched and recorded. There are books, plays, songs, art works and websites all drawing inspiration from the recorded lives of the people of North Bucks/Milton Keynes.

Although the experiences of men involved in the 1914-18 war have been recorded the story of the young men of North Bucks  in WW2 appears to be a missing narrative. The home front, evacuees, war work in local factories are all recorded  but the young men in uniform are absent. They are far,  far away across the sea fighting for their lives and for the life we live today.
If you have more information from a relative that served with A Company First Buckinghamshire Battalion Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry, especially from 1939- June 1940 in France and after in POW camp I would love to hear from you.
